i don’t wanna know

it’s all just a bit much sometimes.

We can all agree that the world is depressing these days. The current state of everything happening in this world is overwhelming, seemingly heading further and further down the drain. From things worth caring about such as politics, conflicts, the economy, and the environment, to things we should expend less energy caring about such as inconsequential celebrity scandals, Instagram story filters, fandom fights on social media, and being offended on behalf of others who might not feel it, it seems like wanting not to care about anything going on at the moment seems like an excellent escape.

Yes, not caring about everything is an option. Even if it seems like the myriad of people chronically online tells you otherwise, only you can decide what you want to care about and when you want to care about it, or even if you should care at all. Sometimes you just don’t want to know and that’s perfectly fine. Nobody can boss you around about it.

Ignorance is indeed bliss. Muting certain words in your timeline can do you wonders. You’re allowed to be tired of everything and simply choose to ignore it. It’s both a privilege to be part of the conversation and to take yourself out of it.

It wouldn’t make that much of a difference. Someone will “replace” you in the conversation, as can you replace others. You don’t have to know or participate in everything all of the time. Apathy isn’t always a tragedy.

Thank you for reading, trust no one, and see you in the next post.
